"Google's naming convention speedrunning ahead of its actual performance increases."
Explain Like I'm Normal
Independent testing from Artificial Analysis reveals that Google's new Gemini 1.5 Flash update (v1.5 and v2.0 comparisons) shows negligible performance gains over its predecessors. While 'Flash' remains the efficiency king, the incremental versioning seems to be more about maintenance than a leap in reasoning. For developers, this means no urgent need to refactor prompts for the new endpoint yet.
