A new evaluation framework called EEBench tests how well LLMs can handle electrical engineering tasks like schematic generation and PCB routing. While models show promise in basic circuit logic, they still struggle with the physical constraints and precise spatial reasoning required for manufacturable hardware. The gap between 'generating code' and 'generating a working motherboard' remains significant but is closing.
